feel like Ben Carson is going to yawn every time he talks

FTR, reading this thread was probably the best way for me to get a realistic feel for this "debate" without having to suffer through it.

Trump is a cartoon buffoon, but Jesse Ventura got elected - and he's mostly Trump with better hair.

I too think that Trump will go away, but Trump's sotted-drunk-at-the-end-of-the-bar schtick resonates with a lot of dumb people.

Carson, like Trump, is a savant. Really good at one thing (OK, Carson actually IS good while Trump just thinks so) and utterly unaware of his ignorance about the rest of the world. He's Trump with good manners. Trump with a mama who loved him.

i broke down and listened to a few minutes on Iran and a few minutes on Planned Parenthood; there were so many falsehoods I had to stop. It's like they live in a different world where PP is chopping up babies. I don't think they actually WATCHED THE TAPES. Fiorina thinks PP was killing live babies and stealing brains and shit. It got huge applause.

The two biggest winners coming out of the debate last night were Fiorina and Trump, not necessarily in terms of content or performance, but in terms of positioning.

Fiorina is phenomenal in these settings and got her moment when Tapper lobbed up the softball to her about Trump calling her ugly. I thought her first hour was incredible but then she kind of tailed off after Christie told her to STFU. She will absolutely get a bump.

Trump came out well too because he made no major mistakes. Everyone was attacking him and the format was set up for everyone to take him on. He toned it down a bit but did not back down at all and dominated the time on screen. He's an alpha male who is given a major forum to act like an alpha male which he always does. 18+ minutes of talk time is insane with 11 candidates on stage. Fiorina is probably the only candidate who will get a real bump out of the debate, and people moving over to her certainly won't be those who are supporting Trump. Trump played well to his base. If anything, he could pick up more Cruz voters. I thought Cruz was awful.

The guy who was hurt the most IMO was Carson who I think will lose support to Fiorina.

FWIW Lloyd Austin stated in a Senate hearing that we have special forces on the ground in Syrian space training Kurdish forces. The training appears to not be working as we have 4 or 5 fighters officially trained in a few months (instead of the assumed 5000). These better be some super-soldiers. Who could see that coming, what with none of our training in the past ever working? Nothing to see here.

US Central Command then stated we DON'T have troops there.They were in Iraq! A distinction without a difference.

i think rubio is polished as hell. he keeps it together and can talk convincingly.
