XPN rebranded the station as XPN2, but it mixes in a lot of older now. The "XPN mix" show with Eric Schuman on the on air station (some) weekday evenings does have a good mix of contemporary "modern" rock.

but i'd consider almost all of these bands 'radio rock'

looks like im mainstream in my music tastes. 104.5 usually plays a song i like every 20 minutes or so. i always considered that station 'alternative' to other rock, which would be something like 102.5 WRFYin Reading, for example. they'll play Kid Rock, Nickelback, etc. but also some Green Day and such. looking at it, the playlists are getting ever similar.

My rental car has satellite radio and except for the comedy channels it's pretty terrible IMO. Can't wait to get my car back so I can rock out to spotify again.

How's the sound quality though? For me it's almost unlistenable for music. It's like a weird tinny sound or something. Don't think it's the speakers because regular radio seems okay.

that's the modern rock format. There's also the mainstream rock format, which is what WMMR's selection of new music draws from and what WYSP used to be full of
