I'm winning in inoffensive fashion, but if I had my druthers I'd be a lot more rude. YOU DIDN'T FOLLOW INSTRUCTIONS WHY THE FUCK SHOULD THAT BENEFIT YOU INSTEAD OF LEAD TO (minor) PENALTIES
Can't say that to America's youth
(they were required to answer 2 of 3 essays on the midterm, student answered all three...student wants me to count her best two answers rather than averaging all three...I mean the first line of the instructions was "Please answer two of the following three questions"...I wasn't hiding it. I'm not penalizing the student, just counting the shittiest answer as well. If I had to read it and grade it, it counts. Fucking read the goddamn instructions.)
I would've just read the first two and left the 3rd one ungraded. But you were wrong for expecting the student to read the instructions. (My dad claims that when he was in college he once had a test where buried in the instructions (which were apparently lengthy and obvious) it said, "You don't have to take this test" and no one in the class read that far--everyone took the test.
