This game is like a gateway boardgame into an entire subsculture of German board games. And I mean that as a good thing.

(I regularly play Catan and Dominion with associated expansion packs, but have accumulated others -- Ticket to Ride, Avalon, Puerto Rico, etc -- that I periodically play.)

i tried player settlers with a group of friends but htey didnt seem to want to help me learn. i have to find another group who isn't so cutthroat with destroying me while i learn the basic rules.

Watch Tabletop on youtube for some other good game recommendations when you get tired of arguing over the proper conversion of sheep to wood.
