This game is like a gateway boardgame into an entire subsculture of German board games. And I mean that as a good thing.

(I regularly play Catan and Dominion with associated expansion packs, but have accumulated others -- Ticket to Ride, Avalon, Puerto Rico, etc -- that I periodically play.)

Yeah there are a lot more fun an complicated ones out there. When I first played settlers it was te German version. So all the cards and rules were in German. It's how I know road in German is sprecht.

Have you ever played Agricola or Carcassone? Both are excellent.

My buddy is in to Carcassonne, I've never been a huge fan of it or SoC. Resource games never interested me.

tl;dr answer = 'no'.

I've probably done my share of music teaching in the day, but never "lessons". I find myself in a very weird spot in the musical community- there's usually the people who have studied and been taught and taken lessons their whole lives and become proficient and/or incredible and those who are totally self-taught and become proficient and/or awesome. I straddle the middle ground, but lean towards the latter, so I have too many unorthodox methods and stylings to ever consider giving lessons. To be truthful and with a rare display of self-deprication and lack of modesty, I wish I had a LOT more technical training because my self-taught hands are well behind a lot of others- both taught and naturally gifted- but my self-taught ears and musical instincts are well above most.

and yeah, the solution is somewhat simple, but the reality very hard. my dream is to hit the powerball so I can spend much of my day just practicing music.

I had lessons for seven years and I would describe my piano abilities in much the same way.
