I was on my way to a rock festival back in 1981 and ended up at Dahmer's house where I was tortured and killed.

It's obviously been quite a while, I may have some of the details wrong.

OK, here's the story: This person, we'll call him Brian, used to go to the same bars Dahmer would meet his victims. Brian hired a homeless guy to pain his apartment, paying him with a six pack of beer. Brian woke up the next day, and the homeless guy (and the beer) was gone, but there was a bloody stain on the floor. That was when Brian decided it was time to go back to NJ, and of course, this did attract police attention. They thought he might be either the killer or a victim.

We were talking about civil rights in class today, and I mentioned studies that showed how "black" names can sometimes mean your resume is less likely to get an interview. That degenerated into a discussion about what was a white name. I said "Trey is a pretty white name" and my students disagreed. But they said that William, or certainly Bill was a white name. I said I disagreed. Also, we talked about whether laws against wearing sagging pants were discriminatory, and the students didn't seem to think so, since in their experience, those most commonly hostile to sagging were old black people. I think the generation gap is a real thing.

I have to agree with your students, Trey is most definitely not (only) a white name.

Yeah that bad Real World season in St. Thomas had a black Trey. Top white male name is Jake, according to Freakonomics.

I used to love it in college when people, presumably females, would fold your laundry for you if they needed to use the drier. They deserve medals. But fuck those assholes that just threw your shit on top of the drier.

i don't see how you can possibly be mad at people putting your laundry on top of the dryer. i've seen people leave their clothes in the dryer for the entirety of the time it took me to do all of my clothes. what the hell are people supposed to do, just wait until these people actually come back to get their clothes?
