Just realized I've been drawing money from ATMs for 20 years with nary a mistake on their end. Not one. Why aren't the ATM people in charge of, like, everything else

Oh yes. If your landlord isn't some faceless corporation you might be able to reason with them, though.

Some leases have an out if you move out of the area for work or something. Could try to game the landlord on that, if you have it.

Is the landlord a person, or a corporation? In the past I've had success with offering to find them my replacement, then posting to Craigslist

real double-edged sword when one of your girlfriends offers to help you do life stuff you have to do on the weekend. it's very nice, and I do have to do that stuff, but I'd rather do anything else
