is that a good thing?? serious question. I know we don't want riots and all, but seems like we don't want their punishments being "pacified" either.

at this point, we aren't really 'rehabilitating' shit. it's all self-starter stuff. it's just a way to house people who we define as uncouth, and/or a way to make money for private prisons. ideally that's not what we'd want to do, but it's the current reality.

Found out my one good republican friend is voting Johnson. Can't bring himself to vote Romney. We're doing it.

It's good to have carrots and sticks when you are trying to keep prisoners from being problems while incarcerated.

Talked to some friends today down in Florida, and they are DISGUSTED at what is going on down there...they said it's like a third-world country with the way they are running the polls..the lines are seven hours long in some places..their governor Rick Scott's approval level is in the toilet...

Only met one Romney voter on my routes, but was the best looking woman I ran into here.

An 84-year-old lady said she had a butto/pin of every President dating back to Coolidge. She also had less gray hair than me.

Karen Castor Dentel’s priorities are clear:
* Use tenure policies to protect bad, burnt-out, longtime teachers at the expense of younger, better teachers.
* Use the courts to keep all teachers in the classroom – even those who prey on young people.
* The right to use our tax dollars and valuable student learning time to promote her political campaign.
Karen Castor Dentel: Good for the union, bad for kids.

What does Karen Castor Dentel have to do with Sandusky? She is in a union, that's what.

Nate Silver ‏@fivethirtyeight
Everything gelling a bit: 1) US polls catching up to state polls 2) bad polls for BHO in noncompetitive states help explain remaining spread

How many state polls have there been in non-competitive states anyway? In Arkansas, there have been 4, one of which was done in March.

My final prediction:

Image

Three closest Obama states:

1. New Hampshire (hardest state for me personally to pick--really think people underestimate the "Boston" effect of Romney)
2. Iowa
3. Wisconsin

Thus, Ohio is NOT the tipping point state.

Two closest Romney states:
1. Colorado (about as hard to predict as NH)
2. Virginia
He wins FL and NC by at least 2+ points.

To be honest, this could be a "I watch the games" viewpoint, but I actually see some polling momentum towards Romney in the polls I actually trust.

Add Washington Post George Will to the landslide column along with Fox News Channel’s Dick Morris and the Washington Examiner’s Michael Barone.

On this weekend’s broadcast of “This Week with George Stephanopoulos” on ABC, Will revealed his prediction and added a bonus surprise by saying traditional Democratic state Minnesota would go for Romney as well.

“I’m projecting Minnesota to go for Romney,” Will said. “It’s the only state that’s voted democratic in nine consecutive elections, but this year, there’s marriage amendment on the ballot that will bring out the evangelicals and I think could make the difference.”

Really. The guy used to have very intelligent things to say, but he's turned into one of the duller bulbs in the tanning bed,

Yup. It's really, really sad. He used to be someone I could disagree with while greatly respecting his opinion. And occasionally even agree with him.

I remember he had this really weird obsession with the Wool and Mohair subsidy. Seemed to think we could balance the budget and eliminate the debt and fund social security forever if we just did away with that subsidy.

Kinda weird.

Romney's visit to Yardley

Seeing on FB that he showed up hours late and they wouldn't let anyone leave if they were freezing
