Well, a de-energized base (even a fraction of a percent) makes a difference. I agree that it's not as if they'd vote for Obama... it's the problem of some of them not voting at all.

i saw an ad today on china. a chinese man was speaking to chinese students in chinese. the whole ad was subtitled. it was supposed to be from the future and china was laughing at the history lesson on the USA being given because china was the world power.

this ad has been running sporadically for several months. Not really sure what its point is. China's political leadership is prone to bouts of, let's call it overconfidence, that they ordinarily keep tightly under wraps. Occasionally little hubris farts escape their dragnet.

That ad is 2 years old. Interesting fact: The actors had no idea what the ad was for, and many were pissed afterwards.

The guy who wrote it is a Republican, so it's not too surprising. But the trend and dynamics of the race are pretty clear.

The gift that keeps on giving...

Rep. Todd Akin, R-Mo., came under fire for comparing Democratic Sen. Claire McCaskill to a "dog" during a campaign fundraiser Saturday night in Springfield, Mo. McCaskill's office responded a day later with an email to supporters that said Akin "continues to offend women." The conservative's comments came two months after his "legitimate rape" snafu and nearly two weeks from the general election.

What was candidate's exact quote?

PoliticMo.com posted an audio recording of Akin's remarks late Saturday. The transcript goes, "So she goes to Washington, D.C., and it's a little bit like one of those dogs, you know, 'fetch,' and gets all of these taxes and red tape and bureaucracy and executive orders... and dumps it on us in Missouri. … What we should be doing is taking the common sense we see in Missouri and taking that to Washington, D.C., and blessing them with more solutions instead of more problems."

nice get. So this is a metastatic product of Reagan's Grace Commission, rather than the National People's Congress. Founders Peter Grace and Jack Anderson are long dead; the 5-member board includes the fantastically-named Orson Swindle

All three of these acute analysts are concerned that the aggressive spin of the Romney campaign that Mitt “won” the debate last night because he “met his objectives” or “reinforced his message” or “won the debate season” or whatever, and its acceptance by much of the MSM, can become what Chait calls a “self-fulfilling prophecy” and lift him to the presidency.

http://www.washingtonmonthly.com/politi ... 040688.php

In recent days, the vibe emanating from Mitt Romney’s campaign has grown downright giddy. Despite a lack of any evident positive momentum over the last week — indeed, in the face of a slight decline from its post-Denver high — the Romney camp is suddenly bursting with talk that it will not only win but win handily. (“We’re going to win,” said one of the former Massachusetts governor’s closest advisers. “Seriously, 305 electoral votes.”)

This is a bluff. Romney is carefully attempting to project an atmosphere of momentum, in the hopes of winning positive media coverage and, thus, creating a self-fulfilling prophecy.

Are you saying JH takes his marching orders from Karl Rove? JH just gave one of those "we're going to win and the bad debate was a sign that we're winning" speeches.

I'm appalled.

And intrigued.

Does Karl send his marching orders by email or are they delivered via dementor?

Now $12.
