Wonder how it is in the other counties. The Philly burbs tend to be a good predictor of the final result.

uhhhm, the actual voting habits of people there are probably the good predictor you're referencing, rather than the count of lawn signs...?

Once again, thanks for stating the obvious. Lawn signs, especially in residential areas, might indicate more active support for (or against) a candidate, or in the case of fewer signs, less passion for candidate.

I live in rural northwest NJ.

In 2008, tons of McCain signs, almost no Obama signs.

In 2012, almost no signs for either candidate.

Well, Obama's gonna win NJ regardless.

But it could be an indication that more salt-of-the-earth types that usually vote GOP will stay home than usual.

Harper's had a thoroughly depressing article by Victoria Collier about election rigging and how insecure our systems are these day, how many states don't even have a paper trail to do recounts anymore, how the electronic machines are produced and controlled by the same people even if there are different corporate names on them, and how everyone is afraid to talk about it

couple excerpts here though the article was more even-handed than this site makes it seem:

Mitt, Ann, and Tagg Romney are major investors in an investment firm that holds a majority share (and 3 of 5 board members) of e-voting machine company Hart Intercivic. Ohio, Texas, Oklahoma, Washington, and Colorado will use Hart Intercivic e-voting machines in the 2012 elections.

PoliticalWire runs a swing state polling item every day, updated throughout the day.

Yesterday almost everything was Romney within the MOE, other than one that had Obama up 8 in Nevada. Today everything is Obama within the MOE.

Moral of the story? It's tied almost everywhere, other than probably Nevada (Obama) and North Carolina (Romney, though yesterday saw one poll that had the president +3). Which suggests to me that this will come down to early voting and field organization. The president has something like three times as many field offices in the swing states, and the 2008 experience suggests they will maximize that edge.

This probably makes a lot of sense; Mitt Romney is a different candidate now than he was in February.

How in the world is that even legal? Since both sides have the opportunity to get screwed over by it, I'm surprised it's not been addressed.

Notice how JH posted that OH poll right after it was pointed out that Romney partly owns the companies that make the machine? He running cover for the Romney election theft!

But he's the same person. It's really frustrating. It also makes me think I could con a lot of people into giving me large sums of money if I really wanted to.

it's really creepy how my neighborhood is majority romney signs, though i'm pretty sure democrats (at least in this area) would be too lazy to show off their opinions and put a sign up for a re-election especially

Wow, this NYT article almost makes Willard seem human and likable. But the ending has assured me my current opinion is accurate.

Mr. Romney even made time as governor to review the state Republican Party’s spending, line by line. “Well, do we really need to be spending $32,000 on a receptionist?” Rob Gray, a friend and political adviser, recalled him saying.

Mr. Romney had a better idea.

“Couldn’t we just have a voice mail system?”
