Man, remember what a huge deal Urckle was? He would just walk on the screen and people would go ape-shit. I know I watched everyweek, but looking back now, what a goofy fucking TV show/character.

The people going ape shit was because of applause signs. I fucking hate laughtracks and "live studio audiences". You want me to laugh sitcom? Be funny. Don't just build an imaginary room around me full of people going "That's so funny!" or "We love this guy!".

Stand up audiences are different though, because they're not being manipulated by glowing applause signs.

Was that the episode where he was a detective and had to figure out a murder?

Yea, nobody remembers the first season of that show where it was basically a black version of Full House. Nerdy neighbor shows up, ratings go up, show becomes all about him for the next 8 years
