pro tip: don't leave a voicemail on your daughter's phone asking her to call back, then have your wife text your daughter saying "i know you're busy but can you call please" then don't answer the phone and leave your daughter in suspense.

Houshphandzadeh wrote:it's kind of just taste in bars and restaurants that will probably separate those two. Grad Hospital has lots of great gastropub type brunch spots and nice but divier (relatively) bars like Sidecar and Grace Tavern. more of neighborhood feel. Washington Square will have you a lot closer to nicer upscale city spots and will have you just closer to the heartbeat of center city, really. if you like doing actual cultural stuff during weekends, Wash Sq has a big advantage there. if money was no object, I'd probably go for Washington Square closer to the Western side of it, as the Eastern side can get to be just old, settled people like Grote said, but you might be able to get a much better deal in Grad Hospital, and it's also a great area

i'd like to reiterate the coolness of Graduate Hospital. pretty pumped everyone is talking up my hood tbh

kruker, 20th and Christian is a perfect spot. I was at 21st for a year and I loved it. Sidecar is at 22nd, and you're right on the bus line that goes right to CBP, which was better than taking the subway. and you're less than a mile from Rittenhouse Square and Fitler Square.

only problem I had there was related to not having a car, there aren't any really conveniently located supermarkets and the one at 23rd and South kind of blows.

I'd reiterate that Washington Square West is probably a little better, but if you can't get there and you're trying to stay close to Old City, I'd sooner go Queen Village than that location.

Good stuff. Thanks guys.

Grad Hospital area is definitely moving up the list. Found some pretty great deals in the area today.

If I had the cash to put down 25%+ on a down payment, I'd definitely be buying right now.

Can I put in a plug for Fairmount/Art Museum based solely on the incredible influx of good restaurants in the last couple months? Feel like it's on the rise.

Agreed. They're a decent number that I'd like to try. Interested in your reviews of the places you've tried.

Never thought about that area. The more I check out the grad hospital area, the more I like it. Would love to be able to hit up some of the bars in that area on a regular basis.
