The guy living on a Switzerland mountain while vacationing in Prague ironically wrote:That's not a character flaw in itself, but it does make one wonder what he has in common with an average American and how he can know our problems (really know them).

Ad hominem gets a bad rap. You can't consider an argument without context. And the context is it's laughable someone's lecturing on being in touch with the common American while living on a Swiss mountaintop.

he waited tables for years, has had many jobs, and probably interacted with more people of various backgrounds and lots in life than most on this board. he finally gets to put some of his degrees to use and you bash him for it. i thought we should applaud success?

Your attempt at "gotcha" mistakes me for a Republican or Romney voter.

your attempt at missing my point is lame. you bashed him for years for 'wasting' his life. now you bash him for doing what you told him to do. you just don't like him. fine. but debate what he wrote, not him.

Hmmm... would this work:

Romney evidently was willing to work hard to graduate from an ivy grad school.

Let's go talk about this on the orange board.

I never understood the desire for release of grades. Unless a canadate flunked out and lied about it, it does not matter after one establish where one excels professionally. I never ask a canadate I am interviewing about grades.

Wanna see if he took commie socialist classes from pinko professor mentors.

I don't recall any other candidate being asked to release their college transcripts. Financials (tax returns, etc.) are understandable for potential policy implications (if invested in X, would policy favor X). But I can't think of a logical reason for college transcripts, at least not one that doesn't involve looking for Rev Wright kind of narratives akin to my above facetious remark.

Oh damn! I was looking forward to Mitt sporting an olympic medal at the debates. Or in the "I approve this message" part of ads.

It used to be that a requirement for a president was to have served in the military. Now, it's nice to know that he must have worked in fast food or retail.

Does Obama's perceived ability to connect with retail workers improve his ability to be President? The top five wealthiest Presidents (in today's dollars):

JFK
Washington
Jefferson
Teddy Roosevelt
Andrew Jackson

4 out of 5 are considered good by historians. Maybe wealth actually should be seen as a positive for candidates. Link

1) I'm not running for president. Where I live has nothing to do with how voters will see Romney, which is what we were talking about.

2) I am not rich (come from very lower middle class or upper poor for many years).

3) If I win the lottery and charter a jet to bring a planeload full of people to Prague for a week-long bash, you are the only one from the board not invited. 8-)

Are your posts about how you see Romney or how you think voters will see Romney? Because I tend to read them as being your views, not your assessment of how the electorate sees him, and those are two different things.

Andrew Jackson didn't start out wealthy and probably a mediocre or worse President. JFK was at best a disappointment. Jefferson pulled off a great land deal, but he was a terrible businessman and his Presidency was a mixed bag.
