Don't get the point of un-spicy sausage. I mean I'll add spicy mustard to it anyway, so there's that, but don't really have much use for it outside of a ballpark.

Sausage is almost always delicious. I refuse to discriminate.

^ pretty much. Not really fond of fennel which is why Italian sausage isn't high on my list but what's not to like about meat with extra fat and spices and such?

strange how people almost always introduce themselves with "by the way, i'm..." a few minutes into a conversation

Its usually when I figure, hey, I might want to get this person's name, so I'll introduce myself and then (s)he'll tell me her/his name too.

I guess it depends on the type of conversation. If it's a more formal thing then introducing yourself first seems appropriate. But if you're just engaging someone in small talk I think it'd be more weird to introduce yourself right off the bat.

Yeah but why "by the way"? It's not by the way of anything.

That's not the point. I understand the general use of the phrase: bringing up things that are related to the current topic of conversation. However, one's name is not directly related to most conversations. If you don't see that, then you needn't comment further.
