I never really got Italian hoagies prior to last year, so I should be good with them alone for the next two years. Only thing I change is up is hot or sweet peppers or BOTH.

You may be unintentionally close to one of the issues. There's a chapter in SuperFreakonomics about this case and why a small, likely exaggerated blurb in the NY Times led to the theory of the bystander effect and stuff like that. Really fascinating.
