Diagnostics on the arm show nothing. Possible a fracture of the "growth plate" (whatever that is) which apparently is not visible on X-Rays. He's wrapped with a sling until Tuesday. Could be worse, I guess.

Just based on perception, it seems the usage of terms like gay (in a derogatory fashion) and retard (which of course is always derogatory) seems to have come back into fashion recently--that is, in middle school in the 70s they were common terms, then as the political correctness stuff got going on campus in the 80s people stopped using the terms, and they stayed out of fashion through the 90s . Perhaps because many believed that things went a bit overboard with political correctness and there was something of a reaction and the terms have come back.

Of course, context and history matter. I hope no one objects to the term idiot, but like mentally retarded was once a term used to refer to what we now call developmentally disabled. Gay of course is perfectly acceptable in the appropriate context, and I think its comeback in the derogatory sense started out as sort of hipster ironic but has morphed into something less benign. It just seems easy enough to avoid both terms though.

I think I'd find "little person" a lot more offensive than midget. Would prefer being called a midget over dwarf too. Should I object to being called a geek because I don't bite the heads off chickens or drive nails into my face?

Only one that really gets to me is people using the word ignorant (or more often 'ignant') to describe someone who is being rude, callous, or just a stupid asshole. Ignorance is not a crime, it's a treatable condition!
