The shirt is gray. It advertises O'Hara's, an Irish beer I'd never heard of. So the shirt's already doing its job. It makes some joke involving hurling, the name of a sport popular in Ireland (and only in Ireland, afaik)

Oh wow. I once saw an All-Irish Hurling game (I'm sure they're called matches) on Wide World of Sports.

They really should bring that show back, it was kewl.

I'm a little surprised hurling didn't catch on here because it looked pretty decent -- good combination of violence and skills.

Don't know why but I remember it as kind of like lacrosse except with a bat-like stick rather than a basket-ended stick

and not to be confused with tossing the caber, which is scottish, and was also on a WWoS broadcast.

You're right Smitty, they have to get back to spanning the globe to bring us the constant variety of sport
Yes, but in a double utley you can put your utley on top they other guy's utley, and you're the winner. (Swish)

Yeah. They ran around with a stick and picked the ball up and whacked it toward the goal. As I recall, you could do whatever you wanted to stop the other guy.

weddings are even hectic for the guests. two of my friends in the wedding party called me asking me if i was ready to leave (now) when I hadnt planned on leaving until tomorrow. they thought i was leaving today and were staying in the room i booked. i only booked for tomorrow night, so i added tonight and called them back and now they are staying in someone else's for a night...so i now have a room for two nights and am only going down for one. joy

My first final paper, which is now done bar proofreading, was like 50% of my finals workload. The take home final that I need to do over the weekend is about 30%. My presentation for Monday night is 10%, and the stats paper due Wednesday at noon is about 10%. It's like a crappy cell phone battery where the first 1/4 of the bar seems to last awhile, then it starts falling quicker and by the time you're down to the last bit you know you have like 10 minutes to find the charger before it dies. Or something.

I didn't really sleep much last night.

Despite it sounding tried-and-true to the point of cliche, I don't recall ever seeing or hearing the phrase "the constant variety of sport" used anywhere but in that intro

Pitched the outline and research that I've done so far to the higher ups. They loved it and now I'm the project manager on this. There are two tall bar items that are the highest severity in the company right now and this is one, my solution, when implemented, will save my company many many millions of dollars.
This is going to be stressful/awesome

It's been a long time since I've seen any hurling. One of my favorite parts was that they used pharmacists as umpires.

Looking at majority-minority districts and their effect on redistricting and partisan outcomes controlling for party control in VA, NC and SC from the past decade. Or something like that. But no math beyond addition and subtraction. It's really terrible, but it's done. And I think I learned a lot about what not to do in the future.
