Wildly overrated -- French vanilla ice cream. Licks the beans of vanilla bean.

The best thing about England . . . .

It isn't France.

Much like America, the international public perception of France is limited. We think Paris, which in many ways is atypical of France much like New York or LA is atypical of the US.

Parisians did invent the shopping mall, but they called them passages.

Whatever happened to Carrefour? they were a big deal when they opened around here, with the employees on rollerskates and such. Maybe they got too many OSHA claims.

Now that I think of it, I vaguely remember something about bankruptcy, or as the French call it, "meh".

The theory is that all the French in Paris are douches (My limited experience supports this view). But the French in the rest of the country are just ducky.

I'd believe this might be true but they still speak that French and that is one stupid language.

Oh, now I see their "hypermarkets" are doing fine worldwide but they pulled out of the US. Too hyper or something.

I don't even think of them as comparable. In French Toast the bread isn't really toasted at all - the batter is.

A more fair comparison might be to grilled cheese. I have been making grilled cheese with crab meat sandwiches recently. They kick French Toast in the ass.

Also -- Freedom Fries FTW!!!..

Carrefour is the reason I lived in Chartres for four years. As my stepdad tells it Carrefour didn't really think about the competition they were going to run into in the US, they were so used to just rolling over people. The opened up the 2 stores here and then kinda gave up when they realized they weren't going to pwn the US market. After that no idea. My stepdad hasn't been with the company for almost 15 years now.

The French are pretty douchey all over the country, but they have their redeeming characteristics (awesome food, and meals last 5-6 hours of intense drinking and eating)
