I think I'm in that same time frame. And it's the same reason.

goodness. i had a friend who waited that long, maybe longer, in between visits. he finally ended up going and found out he had over 10 cavities.

My middle aged, somewhat ugly dental hygienist constantly hits on me. One time she rubbed my chest like cleaning my teeth. I told my mom I never want to go back there but she basically told me to just deal with it.

Coffee and Tea were part of a "hot drinks" proscription. Some Mormons have extended this to include all caffeinated drinks, but that's really not spelled out. I have no idea if hot chocolate is also forbidden. I hope not. It's DIVINE!

Haven't been to the dentist since 2004. Before that, I went regularly for a few years, but had a gap of at least three years prior to that. I've never had a cavity in my life.

I got off track during a year long period where I had no insurance and just never started going again. I'm pretty good with cleaning and hardly ever eat sweets, so I'm not tooo worried about cavities, but I know I need at least one wisdom tooth out and just don't feeling like dealing with all of that.

I waited five years, about, before going to the dentist last month. Needed a root canal and three or four fillings. Luckily, the dentist I went to turned out to be an incredibly cool person and I actually enjoyed going to appointments. But I don't enjoy the thousand bucks I owe because my insurance only covers certain procedures. It's not worth it to put it off.

I've never had a cavity or anything else. Except once or twice got some food stuck back where my wisdom teeth were coming in and the dentist went in there with a high powered water pik type thing and cleaned it out--the yuck that came out of my mouth was impressive to say the least.

Anyway, having perfect teeth, I fully expect the hygienist to complement me. Once, I had one admonish me for not flossing enough (and I do floss pretty regularly mind you) and I went and found a new dentist.

Now, one of my sisters didn't go to the dentist for years. She finally went, and let's just say her dental health was a wreck. She needed all kinds of painful and expensive treatments. I'm not sure exactly what all was involved, but I know it included scraping.

Many dental plans are kind of a ripoff, by the way.

Glad to see I'm not the only person who hasn't been to the dentist in like 10 years. I know I need a couple wisdom teeth out. About once or twice a year one of them hurts like a bitch for a few days, but then goes away. I doubt I have cavities. I had them as a kid and I seem to remember that they hurt, so I think I'd know if I had one.

The wisdom tooth thing is a big deterrent because I'm afraid it will somehow count as medical rather than dentist and only be covered like 50%

I went the other day, I go twice a year. Went to a new dentist this time. They asked me how often I flossed, I told them I don't. They gave me the speech that I just tune out now, so whatever.

I have to get a crown for a root canal I did last year. Anyone know how much those things run?

guys without dental or are afraid of premiums. sign up at a school/clinic and get them removed. if the pain isn't terrible and you have 6 months to wait you can get them out for free by a student. big risk, i know.

i paid to have 1 wisdom tooth taken out. cost me like 1500$ for it to be removed. the pain was so bad that i couldn't wait for a free appt. i also ended up with dry socket and cried myself to sleep for 2 weeks straight

I don't get how a lot of this dental stuff is covered under a different insurance. If I have an infection on my hand my health insurance covers it, but if I have an infection in my mouth, well then I'd better hope to God I have dental insurance. Then move that infection back to your throat and bingo, health insurance kicks in!

Oh and fuck dentists.

I can only handle one grownup type thing a month. Doing my taxes is my March goal. Maybe finding a new dentist and scheduling a visit can be my April goal.

See, this is the stuff that freaks me out. About half the people who have had their wisdom teeth out have horror stories about the pain and the other half say it was no big deal and they were up and around the next day.

A guy I work with (pretty sure he has the same plan as me) went in and they told him some insane amount to remove the tooth. He just got the dentist to give him an Rx for vicodin and called it a day.

A lot, at least under my plan. Not a cent is covered for that. But that could just be my plan. I know my mom, a teacher, had a root canal last year and the whole thing cost her like 15 bucks.
