My sister had been heading close to the edge of full fledged political activist/hippie, and I think this Middle East stuff has sort of pushed her over the edge. Hopefully this is a phase.

She's currently yelling at people on facebook for talking about a "stupid basketball trade" and not hundreds of people being murdered in the Middle East and North Africa.

Le sigh

A big earthquake in New Zealand. Dozens of people dead.

Darren Daulton nods knowingly.

Does the world end at the stroke of midnight on December 31, 2011/January 1, 2012, or at the stroke of midnight one year to the day later? I am confused about this and need to know how to plan.

OK, so time enough for the Phillies to win two World Serieses. This changes everything.

I wonder how many people unfriended her or blocked her posts as a result. I would certainly do one of the above in that instance.

Legendary pole vaulter Sergei Bubka's son, also named Sergie Bubka, is a professional tennis player. He just advanced in the Dubai championships when his opponent, the 5th seed, had to retire because of injury.

Sergei is only a qualifier, so chances are his career is not going that great. But when he does win, man you should see him going over the net.

i finally found a down side. i have a political joke to make and no place to put it.

but seriously, i didn't care for all the vitriol, but (sadly, i guess) i pretty much gleaned all my political knowledge from those threads.
