if philly -> hey, i grew up in pennsport- it's the other side of washington ave (basically an extra three minute walk from queen village if you're north of wharton street*). if budget is a big concern, consider checking into some places for rent there, you could likely get a row home at a good (or cheaper than center city) price. hypothetically.

Almost got a place here last year. Would definitely look there again, basically for the reasons milt mentioned. Plus you're in walking distance of Show and Tel.

I would be a little wary of Pennsport just because it's really tough for people who are in CC, GHo, and even Bella Vista/South Philly to get over there. It's kind of on the fringe and a heck of a walk. Also can be a bit of a sketchy neighborhood, like sometimes at night I'll go over and down 2nd and back to get to my friends house instead of right down 4th.

(no offense, milt)

none taken. in the original draft of my note to meatball i had advised he stay in the washington to wharton/front to moyamensing box but was afraid the gentrifiers would yell at me.

Actually it's really the best district in the city outside of the Far Northeast (which is basically the suburbs). East of Broad Street, South of Lombard, North of the Navy Yard. Best part is the northernmost part, from Lombard down to Christian, but even south of that it's really quiet.

I dunno. You did a hidden identity video appearance on TV. I associate that with being a former mob hitman, so you've got to be fairly badass.

oh correction, the 5th district (Roxborough/Manayunk/Andorra) is the best district. then Far NE then this.

i'd rather be down by the market than in manayunk. too many suburban kids on the weekends there. of course, i liked it when i was 22.

i second the new wave mojo and the crepes place at 4th (?) and bainbridge is pretty good as well.

new wave is awesome...used to go there a few years back. hopefully this bella vista place works out, 'cause it'd be the tits. only thing is i couldn't move into mid-march. but 45 days of awkwardness is a small price to pay for a new bachelor pad in a sweet neighborhood.
