I understand the appeal of moving far away out west, but newly single and moving somewhere you have few friends can be lonely. I'm just assuming you have more friends and acquaintances in the Philly area than anywhere else.

Sorry about that mb. Going someplace out west would probably help the transition. It would force you to do new things and see new people. But if you are going to need to rely on other people for support who live in the north-east area, that would make it much more difficult.

Everyone I know who has gotten divorced had a short period of enthusiastic return to the dating scene. It was a good jump start to their mood at times. Unfortunately, some of these dating experiences also reinforced some of the negative experience of the divorce. It sounds cliche but I would recommend taking things slow dating wise until you figure out how this experience has changed you and who you are now that you are no longer connected to your ex.
