Happiness is a RANDOM THOUGHT

Let's say you (male/early 30s) and your wife decide to separate/divorce/whatever, and you have to move out. You're in DE, but it's a small place, and although things btw you and her are amicable, you'd prefer not to see her all over town (especially if other dudes are eventually tagging along with her).

Consider that you travel for work, and your territory is Central PA--KOP--Center City--Delaware. Where would you move?

Just for shiggles (<--new word) here's some starting points:

West Chester
-- Young crowd, stuff to do, good apartment availability/variety, not too expensive

Philly
-- Great culture, nightlife, lots of ladies, but expensive rent/car insurance, etc

Lancaster
-- Downtown's surprisingly cool, inexpensive, close to family, but lots of memories

Colorado, CA, Oregon, etc
-- Tear up roots and start all over, plenty of hiking and scenery, but expensive w/ grizzly bears

...someplace else?

Hypothetically, where would you go. Hypothetically?

If it was me, I would immediately move to Center City or another downtown area. The last thing I would do is move to a place like Downingtown or Lancaser or West Chester.
I know what you're asking yourself and the answer is yes. I have a nick name for my penis. Its called the Octagon, but I also nick named my testes - my left one is James Westfall and my right one is Doctor Kenneth Noisewater.

I'd say if you're even 50% tempted to do center city, go for it. In my experience it's less daunting/expensive once you get there

No reason why 2011 can't still be The Year of Meat

Without all that much perspective, if I can do it it's obviously not that hard. If you're thinking about it, do it. It's the best.

Good luck, meat.

I think I'm with y'all on this one. Spent the last hour poking around the net and finagling the finances, and I think I'll try to look for a studio or 1-bedroom in Center City or Queen Village.

Anybody know of a decent company/landlord to start the search with?

(and again, thanks for the support)

Meat, sorry to hear that, but fair does for keeping it amicable. And although I know nothing of the suburbs you're talking about, if you think you can go central, it's worth it, I reckon. Nothing gets you over a busted relationship then a big city with plenty to do.

Oh and I accidentally typed that as fellationship, which I feel is worth mentioning.

Also, in CC, you may not need a car, so there's savings there.

he mentioned sales territory, so that'll be hard, but our insurance really isn't that bad. it's about $400 every 6 months

That blows and I'm sorry to hear it. I bet you currently live freakishly close to where I work. As long as you can get Phillies and don't have a strong need to stay local, I say use the opportunity to shed the east cost.

As far as moving advice, I can say that you should probably not move to North Dakota.

Either West, or Philly, but not West Philly. Not gonna lie...I'm definitely devastated and likely will be for some time, but it's kinda exciting being a free agent.

And the whole being single thing: exciting and terrifying. There's a Four (or Six depending on lighting/alcohol/time of night) offering to help me get my mind off the wife, but I think I'll pass. Something about her seems like she's the type who only feels good about herself after getting a chin omelet. Which might be ok short term, but even though I've been out of the game a while, I think my crazy chick radar still functions properly.
