Sure, I'll be taking work with me, and we wont be travelling far (if at all) beyond the boundaries of a small Italian town. But it's 8 weeks. All we're covering is utilities (which can be quite pricey). Outside of work, mainly my preoccupations will be making sure monkeywiz doesn't get bitten/stung by something nasty in our explorations of the countryside, trying to take pictures of crazy, hazy tuscan sunsets and drinking local wine.

Might take monkeywiz to the local football team and see whether Serie C standard beats watching dundee vs inverness caledonian thistle.

That sounds awesome.

There was an all-museum "Attendance is expected." staff meeting this morning from 9 to 10. I forgot all about it and I'm at my desk. Too late to go now, right?

Aye, we're properly excited about it now. Although getting there with all the crap will be a challenge. As good as italian public transport is, I'm gonna have to do my best pack mule impersonation.

Thank a reasonable statutory maternity allowance in the UK. This is probably the only time in our lives that we'll get to spend this long away as a family. Plus it means I get to bore my kids with pictures of 'when we were in Italy' for the rest of my livelong days.

I'm tired of all this kerfuffle over Ricky Gervais and the Golden Globes.

It's all media fabrication as far as I can tell. He was great on Piers Morgan last night

I'm also a little peeved that the word kerfuffle has fallen out of the standard lexicon. I blame Jim McMahon, that punky QB.

I'm glad you mentioned this, otherwise I wouldn't have heard anything about it.

That's the main part of why I'm tired of it. They hired Gervais to create controversy, because really who gives a lumpy shit about the Golden Globes. Then they write about all the stars being mad and Ricky being mad and it all comes streaming across my headline ticker which is supposed to be showing me real news or its most reasonable facsimile.

small town in southern tuscany near Montalcino. Same place we were before. Unfortunately, with two kids and no grandparents about, chances of me and wizlette disappearing off to Florence to wander the streets drunkenly and shag each others brains out are close to nil.

dammit.

me and my brother live together. about a month ago he tore every ligament in his knee, so he's been getting around on crutches. today he had a doctor appointment that he couldn't get a ride for so i took a half-day and gave him a lift at 7am. i don't know if the neighbor thinks i'm injured as well, because by the time i got home he had shoveled our sidewalk, part of our driveway and even cleaned off my truck. the guy cleaned off my fucking truck, it was unreal. i broke the snowblower out and went down and finished off his property then. there can be only one calvinball.

Halfway through the post I was thinking this is the anti-calvinball and bingo!
