Working at home the rest of this afternoon. I both immediately fell back into old bad habits (not so much "working" as screwing around online) and found myself filled with rage when I did check work stuff and saw idiots screwing things up and/or making my life more difficult.

I'm enjoying this job but I think it might be shortening my life compared to if I'd just stayed a consultant.

Wow. I just sneezed as I took a bite of a sandwich and disaster happened. There's turkey everywhere.

Switching it up. Instead of watching the Wire til I fall asleep, I'm working overtime. On a Friday night! This is my life without alcohol. It's a cautionary tale.

I'm sober too. I just subscribed to The Economist. Now I'm going to read Game Change till I fall asleep. Obama just lost New Hampshire, don't tell me what happens next it'll ruin it!

Barry, your plight reminds me of the month I had to give up weed back in October for a series of job interviews for a job I never got. As you could imagine this was extremely frustrating at the end of the month because not only did I go a month without smoking, I didn't get the job.

Yeah, that's always a bummer. I had a chance to smoke hash for the first time ever, but it was a few days before the drug test for this job.

I'm kind of bargaining with myself now. I was planning on visiting State College and drinking there, but I may be unable to get a date change on my fantasy baseball draft that would preclude that from happening. So since my parents are going to Clearwater a week prior and I have off that weekend, I might just drink at the party I'm throwing. Especially because I didn't really think about how much it'd suck to have a bunch of drunks in my house and try to enjoy it sober.

It sucks so much to be the sober one at your own house party. I highly recommend against it. You will probably end up either giving in drinking way too much, getting pissed for breaking your vow or being extremely pissed at your friends for being drunk asses.

Look at the bright side, when I gave up smoking, it was during the Phillies playoff run, at least you're not giving up drinking during baseball season. Come to think of it, I started up again the day before the World Series started. I guess it's my fault the Phillies lost the World Series.

Sorry, guys.

roffle

I went to "the gym" in jeans a couple weeks ago. I'm still trying to figure out how to smoke when my parents are home. I'm 24 years old.

Yeah, I could try it but it just feels so juvenile and guilty...as opposed to waiting til they go to bed and smoking in the shed, I guess.

Surprisingly, my parents have been really cool with me smoking in their house. I still try to be a little respectful and plug the bottom of my door with a blanket/towel and open the window. Then again, I'm pretty sure my dad smoked the good stuff until I started college. I caught him more than once putting something into a drawer rather quickly when I had to ask him a question when he had the basement door closed when I was in 8th grade/a freshman in high school.

I hope I wasn't the reason he quit. If that were the case, I'd offer him a big fat doob to make up for it.

My parents know I smoke, 2 years ago on New Years Eve, my friends and I were passing around 2 celebratory bowls for the new year when my parents approached the house. My mom told me she saw us doing this later(they were at a friends place, but just arrived back to our place). My mom told me my dad asked her if she tought we would share with them when they got inside, instead they respectfully waited outside for a few minutes, then acted like they were fiddling with the door for a seconds before coming in.

When she told me this, I told her I would have gotten my dad high as a kite. She lol'd. I have pretty cool parents when it comes to that stuff....
