This is a good idea on a lot of different levels. I'm not a big fan of spy cameras hanging from streetlamps everywhere, but this just makes sense in terms of applying the technology where it provides highest value (instead of broadly) - both for the police and the citizenry's protection.

I don't like when you pay with a check card at the gas pump and they ask this...

Do you want a receipt?

-Yes

-No Thanks

Many a days I would just answer no not no thanks... I don't like my gas station assuming my politeness

I had no idea Georgetown's game against Harvard was an afternoon affair. I was looking forward to watching it at 7.

I like the Giants and Phillies more than Georgetown's men's basketball and a lot more than Liverpool, but I think if I could rate things to happen, Georgetown winning a national championship would be first (since I've never experienced it and the parties would be amazing) and Liverpool winning the Prem would be almost in the same conversation with the Super Bowl and World Series.

Halp, plz. Anyone have suggestions for getting from IAD to Philly on Saturday both quickly and relatively inexpensively?

Long story short... I jumped on an opportunity to go home (King of Prussia) for the holidays by getting cheap plane tix from Seattle to DC via Virgin America, but never bothered to figure out how to get from DC to the Philadelphia area...

But Amtrak isn't at the airport, right? I guess I've been counting on it being super-easy to get a bus or shuttle or whatever from the airport to the train station, but started to panic an hour or so ago when I realized I hadn't planned anything.

Its kind of amazing to me how you can listen to a song 500 times, and when it comes on shuffle, it still makes you feel like you did the first time you heard it, and make you realize how much you love it. I think thats the biggest reason I love music.

Mick. Back in 1980 I went back to Philly from DC. It was really easy because I didn't know hardly anything back then (some would say no much has changed) and I made it. I remember it was just a couple of days after Reagan got shot. I think I rode right past the place. Makes me think I took a cab to the AMTRAK station because it must have been the cabbie that pointed it out. Anyways, I bet it's easier to do now than back then.

Got this from Google search:

"SuperShuttle's shared van service will take you from Union Station to Dulles for $26; they also do pick-ups at DC hotels:

www.supershuttle.com/htm/cities/dca.htm"

There's also a metro / bus combo:

There is a Washington Flyer bus that connects IAD

to the West Falls Metro station on some irregular

schedule (please check online) and from there (with

escalators & elevators at all stations) it will take one

connection to the Red Line at Metro Center to get

to Union Station (WAS) in about 45 minutes

Not a terrible trip at most hours

when you come to a dedicated traffic light for the right hand lane with a sign that says 'Right Hand Turns' under it what is the proper thing to do? If the light is red should you do not turn on red? Yet the law in PA is that you can turn right on red. Personally I would vote for the former yet most people seem to go with the latter :q

Why do poor conjugation and spelling amuse me so much? It doesn't seem like it should.

OK, so I've taken that Washington Flyer bus. It takes you to the East Falls Church metro station. From there, you take the Orange line to Metro Center, then transfer to the Red Line to Union Station and catch the Amtrak.

Alternately, from East Falls Church, you can take the Orange Line to Metro Center, walk 3 blocks to Chinatown and catch a bus to Philly.

I'm not quite sure what you mean by former and latter here, but I'm pretty sure that you can make the right hand turn on red regardless of the right-hand turn signal, unless there's a NO TURN ON RED sign.

I would agree, because sometimes you'll see a RIGHT-TURN ON GREEN ONLY or something like that, with those kinds of signals.
