BTW, why the hell am I working today? There's 4 people on my floor right now and all of them are in my department. My department head, 2 of his VPs and me.

It's a Christmas Miracle! The PS3 that Santa brought me two years ago, and that my two year old "broke" a year later is resurrected!

It turns out Vox 2.0 was trying to "play" a little piece of cardboard with a Pokemon on it. I had to cut it out of a smaller hole using a pair of needle nose pliers and a utility knife.

Of course, now all I want to do is play Guitar Hero when I should be cleaning the house for Christmas...

This also officially makes me a gigantic gaming nerd, even though I game an average of 3 hours a week - I have a functioning 360, Wii, and PS3 (and a DS, and a PSP, and a PS2, and a Game Cube, and...)

Some dude at this party last night: "Don't tell me you think Jimmy Rollins is a better defensive shortstop than Derek Jeter"

I was so angry I just stormed out of the room

i also kind of threw my beer at one of my friends, which was a first. it was pretty warranted. he kept trying to challenge me to a fight the rest of the night. apparently while i was outside he went through the house telling everyone he was gonna fight me, and my friends were all like "if you fight him, we're going to have his back." so that was pretty nice. although i was soaked in Natty Light, so i had to deal with that too.

he started talking about gold gloves and all of my Phillies fan friends laughed and yelled stuff about Bobby Abreu. i said something about Rafael Palmeiro. i think he was backed into a corner there and that's when he said the thing about Rollins.

There was the head to head comparison at the WBC. Those 2 guys playing behind the same pitchers and you could easily tell who was better.

I was playing air hockey with my niece (a first grader) and I really didn't want to let her win by playing poorly. The solution? After I scored, I would celebrate obnoxiously, and that gave her an opportunity to score. She won, 10-9. It was kind of fun.

so what you're telling us is, the 1st grader beat you, despite you trying hard
Yes, but in a double utley you can put your utley on top they other guy's utley, and you're the winner. (Swish)

Working in IT in 1999, one of my big goals was to get a new job before the end of the year, because my employer was requiring that everyone in IT work New Years' Eve. Which is OK, considering I worked at an oil refinery, so IT was pretty important. But it was for no extra pay or bonus, and they suggested we "potluck" our meal. This indication of cheapness was one of the big reasons I wanted to leave.

I did get a new job before the new year, and only had to come in for a few hours on New Year's day.

serenity now!

Tried to go to 4pm Mass... Got there at quarter of, there's no parking, drop off VoxJr and Vox's mom, go find parking three blocks away, carry BabyVox to the church.

Get in, it's standing room only, in the lobby. Vox's mom tried to make her way through the crowd(!), Vox reels her back in to the lobby. VoxJr can't handle crowds.

Five minutes in, Vox's mom announces that she can't stand all through Mass. So I trudge back to get my car, pick them up and now we're home.

I need food and drinks, now, but we have to finish cleaning...
