There's no regular obligation in my life I dislike as much as I do laundry. Puts me in a bad mood pretty much all day. I think in-building or in-house washer/dryer might be a non-negotiable must-have item for wherever we live next.

I have a washer and dryer in my house, and I hate laundry almost as much as I did before (not having to pay $2.50 per load making up the difference). Of course, my bedroom is on the second floor of the house, and the laundry is in the basement.

What I hate about it most is shlepping the bag to the place, and being in there when it's crowded. Today at least it was close to empty; hopefully it'll still be that way when I go back to switch it and when I pick it up.

(Oh yeah: the fact that I have to make that walk, which isn't all that long but is down a trash-strewn street and is unpleasant lugging the bag, three times is another component of teh suck.)

The laundry room is more or less across the hall, and I've been putting it off for a week

I probably haven't worn the shirt I'm wearing today for two years

Dajafi--you ever look into a place that does your wash for you? Around here, its cost is like a buck or two more than the laundromat.

We sometimes drop it off at this same place. It's about twice as expensive, maybe a bit more. But the only real advantage of this to me is that it's two walks there rather than three, and it's not as time-sensitive. I don't really mind actually putting the clothes in the machine; it's the shlep and being in the place that I can't stand.

Find one that does pick up/drop off. If one doesn't exist, well, start one! You could be the next George Jefferson!

My old apartment had an in-unit W/D and my condo has a room in the basement. I find doing laundry much more of a chore now, even though it is just an elevator ride away. I can't throw a loan in an hour before I sleep, then stick it in the dryer before I go to bed. I can't do a few loads as I watch TV.

In the building is almost as inconvenient as down the street.

When I lived in Bloomfield, our laundry room was 3 floors down from our apartment. I was responsible for laundry, and I really didn't mind. Now, the laundry room is right next to our bedroom, but I don't do laundry anymore. I'd hate to have to use our current laundry room, because it's cramped and filled with lots of junk. Don't ever underestimate how great basements are.

My laundry is in a 2nd floor closet, which is right outside this here home office door where I spend 75% of my time. Very simple- beats the snot out of schlepping to the basement. The only thing I hate is folding. I got a flip-n-fold and a flip-n-fold junior which really help me in that aspect. I do all the laundry except for the 'delicates' which I'm not allowed to touch. All 'bachelor's loads' too- no sorting.
