Any reason why a PS3 could be f'ing up my wifi network? Every time my roommate gets on the internet with his PS3, I lose the internet (as in my computer not picking up the home network, when a second earlier I had a perfect connection).

Is he doing online gaming? He could be taking up so much bandwidth that you can get any traffic through.

I'm pretty sure he's just been using the browser. Anyway to limit the bandwidth on the PS3 or am I going to have to kick him in the head the next time the bases are loaded with no outs and my internet kicks off only to come back on with the Phillies down 4-0? :)

Isn't there a theoretical limit to how many devices can be connected to certain types of Type G routers?

I did a google search, and came up with a couple of things to try...

*assign a static IP to the PS3 (negotiating for the IP address is causing the probelm)

*see if you can hard-wire the PS3 to the net

*turn off media center in the PS3

*compatibility issue with the wireless router

I've had similar problems when my brother would connect with his xbox. Usually, if I just assigned a new IP to my laptop the problem would be fixed.
"I tell all kids not to use that word. If they're 29 and they win the World Series, I think they can say that.
But I definitely would say to all the kids out there, 'Kids, it's a bad word. Don't say it. And I'm dead serious.' "

Thanks MrsVox and Marion. I've got to figure something out, because it just happened again while reading this page.

So what's the simplest solution? Change my IP address?

Yeah, Daj. I hope they sent you home with good meds. Kind of sobering when someone I know younger than me has a for real surgery.

best wishes, daj

that beerfest was like a BABIP convention
needless to say this vacation is meeting any and every expectation. going out as soon as my buddy gets out the shower, seeing THE HOLD STEADY TOMORROW on the most beautiful lake i've ever seen and then--a last-minute addition to the itinerary--going to Cooperstown on Monday morning. holy poop.

after i finished drinking at the beerfest, i stood on the shore of Lake Cayuga and turned to my friends, and i couldn't do anything but smile. lots of terrible crap happening to people, here, at home, everywhere, and yet moments like the ones i had today make it all go away, if only for a short time.

i wish you all the best. obviously i'm in a good mood right now, but i can't help but love (and i'm not using that word lightly) all of you.
