I'm getting obsessive-compulsive about hyphenation. Or maybe just obsessively compulsive. It's fucking my head.

Here's one I've been languishing over lately.

I've always been a staunch defender of proper use of apostrophes when assembling a plural. Actually more of a ridiculer of those who insert an apostrophe when one is not called for.

"Hundred's of Car's in Stock Every Day" !!

But now I find myself in lots of use cases where I need to pluralize an acronym or abbreviation- things where there's no proper plural when there typically would be (like a word ending in a vowel). I hate myself for using an apostrophe, but it's just not rights without one. Take "pro", for example, a typically accepted shortening of "professional".

Is it:

A) "Time to let the pros take over"!
B) "Time to let the pro's take over"!

I'm so conflicted.

Me, too. Vox is waiting for me to become a serial killer (the majority are o neg).

Before we moved, the vampires (aka the red cross) were calling weekly to get me to donate. Now they don't have our number.

If you don't write the singular as "pro'" I don't think you would write the plural as "pro's".

It's a. Plurals simply have nothing to do with apostrophes.

More to the point, pro is not a contraction.

My boss saved me from disaster. Thank God. Shockingly, he usually encourages these things.

Runny nose/nasty coughing up crap has been going on for about 3 weeks now. I rarely have allergies so I am not sure if it is that.
