I don't have high cholesterol, but my good cholesterol is low--the ratio is not where it is supposed to be.

I have that. Niaspan (nuclear strength Niacin) if the diet doesn't work. Simcore (which is Niaspan and something else) if Niaspan doesn't work. Make sure you take your baby asprin with it - hot flashes are a bitch.

The Niaspan is extended release and is prescription, unlike the high dose stuff I've seen on the drugstore shelves.

The Simcor is Niaspan plus Simvastatin.

So, I could start with diet, excercise, and OTC niacin? It would be great if that worked.

I don't know that I'd take my anecdotal whatever and start self medicating (or would that be self-vitamining?). At least unless you read something or your doctor says otherwise.

The most superficial and facile of my college classmates now seem rather determined to raise funds for the awareness of minor causes.

I am going to see the doctor today. I'm just pleased that I might not have to take statins.

On the tmi front, I'm also going to talk about getting a vasectomy. Oh, and the MD's daughter is good friends with my daughter. And our wives are friends too. So it's one big happy family.

I had high cholesterol and my bad cholesterol was high -- with a lowfat diet (oatmeal every day), I lowered my overall cholesterol. With exercise, I was able to lower my bad cholesterol.

I had to avoid statins because I was nursing. My doc suggested taking red yeast rice. I looked into it and found it is really just a naturally occuring statin, but the quantity can be unstable from pill to pill, so I skipped it. I'm not big into that kind of stuff anyway.

Statins cost money. Vitamins are less expensive.

fuck. you know your taking study seriously when you bring a British Standards (aka federal compliance standard) to the crapper with you for reading, as apart from the other, more obvious use.

Also, what's with the lying down of folk with gunshots to their upper body in tv series? I mean, if it's above the level of the heart, you're keeping them up and sitting, no? I thought that made it harder to bleed out? Plus, from a strictly dramatic POV, you're pumping blood all over someone else's clothing as they kneel behind you to keep you supported. That's gotta count, pathos-wise.

Inquiring minds want to know.

i pretty much did 7 solo hours on one of the busiest bands in the city today. i did everything, maybe asked two or three questions of the trainers over the whole day. and i've still got two months left of training before they make me do 7 solo hours to see if i can do the job well enough. i'm feeling pretty awesome right now.

granted, today was a pretty mild day across the board, but i also did all this on 3 hours of sleep and an XL Dunkin' Donuts coffee. my trainers were loving it because they didn't have to do jack. they said they want to work with me all the time.

Why does syncing my PC to my TV have to be so frustrating?

9 times out of 10, no problem. Now the last two days it's been a pain in the ass. Had it working last night after some tinkering with it, now, having touched none of the settings or connections, it's decided not to work.
