It's fun.

I'll hate them again after we win the WS. Right now, they are of no consequence.

I liked Palin's answer on global warming, except for the part where she said she didn't want to debate about the causes. She moved on too quickly, and I thought she had a point there.

However, her gay rights answer was awful and IMO Biden's gay rights answer was his strongest of the night.

Actually, Biden's response to the desire to not debate the causes of global warming was spot on--how can you begin to address the problem if you don't understand the cause? I mean, it's like a fat person saying let's not debate why I'm fat, let's do something about it. I'll start drinking diet soda with my Supersize Fries and bacon cheeseburger.

Jon Stewart made the analogy of a smoker who is dying of lung cancer not bothering to wonder what caused it.

I have no opinion on the debate that I'm interested in arguing over, but I was having fun listening to NPR's after party. It started out with Maura Liason saying "I think they both did okay, Biden was strong, Palin was folksy and that'll play with a lot of people, both overcame their weaknesses, etc" then they went to this one and that one and with increasing exasperation and annoyance they were like "OMG WHY WASN'T SHE ABORTED?" by the time I got out of the car.

i hope factcheck.org does a nice post on this debate because, although biden won on the breadth of experience/knowledge, i'm pretty confident he BSed his way through enough answers (healthcare plan, hezbollah, violence against women as a "controversy") that it he should be called on it. he just happens to be more convincing at it than palin, who's essentially cramming for a test at this point.

Only Palin lied though. Cause she's an evil Republican.

Joe Biden doesn't understand the cause. He said, "man is responsible for global warming." You won't get a single academic to say that. Al Gore won't say that. If Biden did some research he'd know that most scientists agree that the methane from livestock gas has more carbon emissions than man.

methane - which is also released from landfills, coal mines and leaking gas pipes - is 23 times more effective than carbon dioxide at trapping heat in the atmosphere.

Fortunately people other than Joe are dealing with global warming. Both Sarah Palin and Joe Biden are right. The world is warming. The most experts say about man's role is, however, that man is likely one of the contributors to global warming. If we take Joe's word for it that man is responsible we won't address all of the problems.

I thought both Biden and Palin did very well. I don't think Biden gains much by doing well. Palin could regain the confidence of a lot of people who've jumped off the bandwagon.

Things that surprised me:
1. Joe Biden invoking the car accident that killed his wife and injured his children.

2. Sarah Palin stealing the best lines from past debates ("There you go again." "You were for it before you were against it.") and assuming that no one would notice.

3. Joe Biden saying that the United States needs to change the education system and fundamentals of Pakistan, then saying the US has a right to enter any country that harbors terrorists and that nations can forfeit their sovereignty, and then saying that he disagreed with the Bush Doctrine of preemptively entering countries.

4. Sarah Palin getting away with not giving a weakness.

Um, would livestock even exist (and fart so much) if we weren't breeding them in order to eat them?
