or neocon rumor designed to prepare the populous for a the somewhat more palatable revelation that Palin's minor child was five months pregnant

we can spin that one all night if you like

BAHA, you're insane.

and you're perfectly sane for buying that the other rumor was created by "the liberals?"

Rumors that are started by, seized on, and backed by DailyKos are created by liberals. Yes, understanding this makes me sane. Thinking that neocons are behind this makes you p-t-k ish.

Except that there are a few "small town" states that Obama is still hoping to steal away (Colorado, Montana, New Hampshire, Arkansas).

If thinking someone named Cowboy Troy should be beat over the head repeatedly with a tack hammer makes me elitist, well, I'll gladly accept that label.

Obama isn't going to win Arkansas. Colorado and New Hampshire aren't really small town states anymore. Montana only has 3 evs, and is unlikely to make a difference.

And he will lead us to energy independence so we can be free of foreign oil.

And -- and he'll do it with an all-of-the-above approach, including nuclear power, and, yes, off-shore oil drilling.

Drill, baby, drill?

Drill, baby, drill.

This -- this -- this is the kind of change -- now, you guys are ready to break out. Whoa.

even the transcript gives me chills.

abc news matt o'donnell just summarized the speech by saying basically (paraphrased): "it wasn't the best political speech ever, but for someone with her political credentials, it was pretty darn good."

jeez, louise

I don't often post in this thread, but... Palin is a nobody. A lightweight. She's not in the top 200 of qualified Republican VP candidates. Frankly, it's a disgrace that this is what it has come to - a compeletly unqualified person in every aspect being a heartbeat away from the Presidency because that is what is required to win the election.

as much as speeches in convention settings are theatre, i don't think you could have asked much more from sarah palin. she looked comfortable, spoke pretty confidently, appeared to not be reading ALL the time, and very obviously has charisma. to those who complain that she hasn't raised anything new, she has the distinct advantage of having given only one set of remarks before a national audience and that was last Friday's introduction. i mean, i don't think anyone reasonably expected her to come off this well. she's obvious got politcal talent in the same vein as obama, which is certainly limited. she made her personal case fairly effectively, i thought. that's all she had to do.

overall, and leaving aside the debate on substance, because it's largely subjective based on one's viewpoint, i think it was a pretty strong performance. i don't meant to ask this in a sexist way, but have we ever seen hillary clinton give this successful a speech? (that's really the only benchmark we have at this level.) i've seen hillary speak both in person a few times as well on tv and i've never seen her do this well by any criteria.

but let's be clear: anyone who decides which way to vote based on a speech alone is a stone cold nitwit. i'm reading updates of people on facebook either nashing of teeth or unbridled enthusiasm and it's the what scares me about our society more than any single speech ever could. people are insane.

I can guarantee that Biden will clean his teeth with her small intestines on any substantive issue.

What the hell is Biden going to say if she comes out with something like "you'd like to get a piece of this wouldn't you"?

He'd come out of it looking like a blithering fool.
