Would anyone happen to know how much data recovery costs, generally? We have a dead G4, and are pretty sure the hard drive is ok, so we wanted to get our files off it

If the hard drive is OK, and it was windows (assuming no RAID or encryption) you should be able to do it rather easily yourself. Not sure how much someone would charge....

Names are interesting. Sometimes a life can be determined by the name parents give their child. Mr. and Mrs Snider gave their son, Duke, a big head start on the athletic field whenn they gave him that cool name. But Foster Castleman wasn't so lucky. And the last name, which the parents can't control too easily also can have some negative effects as well. Ask Wayne Terwiliger.

While Duke Snider became a big star, Castleman and Terwilliger hit their ceiling as utility infielders.

Sometimes parents bless one son and curse another. Bobby Shantz was a star pitcher for many years in the big leagues -- even winning an MVP. Meanwhile, brother Wlmer, was regulated to being a minor leaguer, gettring a couple of cups of coffee in the show but pretty much being a minor league catcher.

How would you explain Carson Palmer? Dude was named to be a football QB, started off gangbusters, but he's been kinda average for years now.

But, your theory holds up with Peyton Manning. Another "My son is a quarterback" name.

Some folks have managed to overcome their names though. There is a county in Texas named Jim Hogg County. It's named after the first native born govorner of Texas, Jim Hogg.

He had a daughter. I don't know why, but for some reason, he named her Ima -- Ima Hogg.

Anyway, Ima Hogg became perhaps the most respected woman in the state of Texas during the 20th Century and her portrait hangs in the State Capitol building in Austin.

It's not a foolproof theory (see above post). Duke Carmel never was any good.

What if you change your name to something like say Ocho Cinco?

Also, Orel Hersheiser. Is that a good or bad sports name?

I think Lenny Dykstra had to overcome a terrible sports name.

Chase Utley sounds like a guy you might find at a yacht club. So does Lastings Millege, for that matter.

Why is necessary to hide mall restrooms? They're few and far between and never in an obvious place, always hidden in some weird spot. Why do so many malls not have a restroom in the food court. I mean, that would seem to be a perfect place for one, no?

They want you to have to walk by all their stores in order to find them. "Oh look, crotchless panties are on sale at Frederick's of Hollywood -- I think I'll get some... but i have to pee so bad...but if I have crotchless panties, next time I'll be able to pee faster... okay I think I'll buy some!"

Either that, or it's just terrible design

I really wonder about people who wear Joe's Crab Shack shirts. Was the experience of dining there really so memorable you needed to buy a t-shirt to commemorate it?

I knew I got way, way, way too drunk last Sunday....but the fact that I had no idea that Carlos Zambrano threw a no-hitter until now shows the place I was in. I wasn't a functional human being until last Wednesday and must have missed every mention of the no-hitter, because I spend an inordinate amount of time watching and reading about sports on a daily basis. . I hate drinking.
