They were playing good stuff. Talking Heads and Neil Young. Doesn't matter. I never have and never will understand the "It's funny because he's my friend!" sentiment.

And for chrissake, how much of an egomaniac do you have to be to go ahead and focus the party entirely on yourself?

I had a friend in High School that did that. Except he played chick songs, like that Bitch by Merideth Brooks, and Alanis Moresette, you outta know. or whatever song chicks liked to scream along with. It worked, he got play.

My crew and I worked at a supermarket and they had the muzack pumped in and Sixpence none the Richer was in Heavy rotation at the time, specifically the Kiss Me song. I would sing that at parties while hammered, straining my voice to hit the high notes, it was absolutely horrific, but everyone loved it for some reason.
