After reading the pages that Housh linked, I can't believe the prosecution decided to pursue this case.

Here's a cliff's note version.

1. R Kelly's defense is that the man depicted in the video is not him.
2. The victim refuses to testify against Kelly (I guess she was the 5th underage girl he has "settled" with.
3. The victim's uncle testified that he recognizes his niece on the tape and that she looked to be 14 at the time. The defense asked him what his own age was and it took him 10 seconds to answer and couldn't get his own son's birthday correct. The defense asked about police finding some crack under his hat, and he said, no- it was in his truck.
4. The victim's aunt- who is a Chicago police officer- first saw the tape and ID'd her neice in 12/01 even though the tape wasn't officially turned in by a newspaper until 02/02. Her advise to the girl's mother was to get an attorney instead of going to the police.
5. From here on out you know the defense's position will be that this was a scam to get money from the beginning. The Defense went on to describe the intricate plot of setting Kelly up.

Seriously these are the best witnesses they could find? A crackhead and a police officer who told the victim's mother to get a lawyer instead of going to police. The defense is going to have a field day with this.

They also have the girl's best friend. The tape seems to clearly be R. Kelly, and R. Kelly's basement. The defense is using the kitchen sink defense. The guy isn't R. Kelly, the girl isn't the girl, someone used multimillion dollar CGI special effects to insert the girls face on someone elses body...

Calling the crackhead uncle to the stand was a bad move, but that's all the defense has going for it so far.

Amazon is so erratic with their shipping speed. Sometimes it seems like they throw it through my window the moment I hit the button and other times I just get a shipping confirmed message five days later. Or maybe it's because I was a Prime member before.

Admittedly the friend sounded like a decent witness.

You think having a police officer ID her niece on a tape knowing the girl was only around 14 while having all kinds of sex with a man in his 30's- especially considering she advised the girl's mother to contact her attorney as opposed to the police- makes for a good witness?

Seriously. Levin is great and that was one of his best. The "Little Man" stuff was great.

Saw two rainbows today, hours apart.
Both were startling bright and really big.
Actually can't remember the last time I saw one before today.
I guess they're the one good thing about the crazy weather we're having--bright sun while it's raining like crazy.
