I love that scene.
And the scene in the car where's he's shaking.
And the scene at the dinner table where he goes into the whole "don't want to buy, sell, or make......"
Oh, and the rainy phone booth scene "I gave her my heart and she gave me a pen"

Do people who take pictures at concerts think they're going to hear the particular song that was playing when they took each one? Get it out of the way in the first few songs and be done with it. And if you screw up five times in a row, tough. Give up.

Amen. If I had a nickel for every time my buddy sends me a dark fuzzy camera phone photo of whichever concert he was at the night before I could buy him a proper phone.

She's a surgery resident, so their lives pretty much suck. Anyway, I fired off an email with the good ole' college try. I pretty much said what I needed to say. I doubt anything will come of it, but at least I made an attempt. I'm debating posting the email in the thread...

The best is when the take video with the phone. Or they actually call you during the show.

Just post the good parts like "I can't wait to crush every one of your friends and/or your mom and then send you the Red Tube links"

Thanks again for the nice words, and again sorry for Bill's loss as well.

It is getting a little easier for sure, and at least now can start thinking about the fun times with my gram without crying.

Her name was Phyllis for goodness sake, because her mom and dad couldn't get away with naming their daughter Phillies.
Do it again!

If you started a thread "Lie About the Size of Your Python" would it get deleted?

I heard a great quote today that pretty much sums up my feelings on the topic:

"Religion is for people who are afraid to go to hell. Spirituality is for people who have already been there."

And for anybody who has been there, I think you know what I am talking about.
"Listen here you beatiful b***h, I'm gonna fuck you up with some truth." - Kenny Powers

Come to Seattle. My department's in the planning/testing phases of a $2 million + project switching all of our servers from Unix to Linux and the guy running the whole thing had a massive heart attack two weeks ago. You're a computer nerd, right?

I don't know why, but Simmons posting the following made me like him a lot more.

REQUEST OF THE WEEK
This is the second time I have written you about requesting transcripts for the podcast shows you do. You are my favorite sportswriter and I hate the fact that I cannot enjoy your podcast shows because I am deaf. All I am asking for is a transcript of the shows. You have a lot of fans of your work that are deaf or hearing impaired who cannot enjoy the podcasts you do, and I hope you figure out a way to arrange for transcripts to happen. It would mean a lot to a whole bunch of us.
-- Dan, Palm Coast

(Note from Simmons: We've gotten this request a few times and I did ask my bosses about it -- unfortunately, we just don't have the manpower to provide transcripts for podcasts at this time. Down the road, hopefully that will change. Wish I had a better answer for you.)

Isn't there fairly affordable technology that will transcribe it automatically?

Probably, or an intern at ESPN.

I read it, and thought, aw, Bill cares about deaf people. I've since recanted my views.

This little software package right here is pretty much the standard for dictation, and costs all of $99

I hope someday to root for a team that thinks it gets screwed as a matter of course by refs/umps/officials.

Rooting for Duke, I've always laughed at people who bitched about that. And reading the Flyers thread is downright hilarious.

I think I might be onto something with Liverpool. Those folks are so twisted, they think they're getting fucked all the time, but since I don't live in a run down part of England, it makes it hard to buy into all the way.

Really, I think the persecuted mentality would be a lot of fun though.
