the random thoughts thread

I'm so ambivalent about back to school, which is a week from Monday for us. On the one hand, I won't have to tell my 6 year old to find something to do 15 times a day, I have to go back to work. My wife, by contrast, isn't ambivalent in the least. She's counting the hours.

I hate when I've got a voicemail on my phone that I really don't want to hear. Then I end up ignoring all voicemail for a week just to not hear the one.

Just back from Cincinnati. A couple thoughts...

Skyline Chili cheese coneys are one of the most perfect foods.

They love their festivals & beer in Cincy. Everywhere you go people are drinking, except no one was fighting and douchebaggery was at a minimum.

The downtown reminds me of Baltimore's downtown, which is to say it's not very nice. Baltimore has inner harbor, Cincy has the Ohio River, but it's pretty much all taken up by the stadiums. There is a lot of character in the surrounding neighborhoods, and the people are generally nice. You know, corn-fed and all that.

Speaking of Stadiums: Great American Ballpark kinda sucks. The sight lines are good, but the atmosphere is pretty sterile (plus the team playing in it blows). It didn't help that I had to endure my friend's "insights" on the game, like, "The Reds couldn't trade Dunn because he's not a cluctch hitter", and "Javier Valentin gets all his hits in the 7th inning or later, which is why he's more valuable than Dunn or Phillips." That was just the top of the iceberg. Sad part is he's one of the most intelligent people I know, normally. Anyway, I really wanted to punch him in the face but he's the best man in my wedding.

One thing about GABP I love is the Reds Hall of Fame. It is simply AWESOME. It sure beats the Phils' piddly-ass wall. It's a huge 3-story building with great displays and stuff to do.

I didn't know anyone else did that, too.

he's so valuable that no team wants him to get 250 AB a year for fear of hurting his awesomeness

i don't really know what exercises work best at the gym, but, by and large, the fat people do cardio/spin and the skinny people do yoga/pilates.

just found out a girl I dated for 4+years--this would be my longest relationship and I was a sliver away from marrying this girl--is a complete coke whore apparently. Unfortunetly for the pushover douchebag that is her husband, she's married and he doesn't know any of this apparently, well at least the whore part.

Why do I have the odd temptation to call her??
