I've got some pine and oak seedlings. Plus, in a few weeks, I'll have mimosas spring up everywhere. Please come and take them all away.

I'm watching 10th & Wolf, which is a mob movie supposedly set in Philly (but it was filmed in Pittsburgh). Anyway, why hasn't the Philadelphia accent ever been pulled off in a movie? Or even attempted? It's always some bad New York accent-sounding crap.

Every band should have its name on the bass drum head.

They do. There's just a heck of a lot of bands named "Ludwig".

I also just half-watched that movie. If it weren't for the comcast menu telling me it was set in Philly, I'd have no idea.

Have you noticed that hospital stays keep getting shorter. You could have major surgery and a few days later be back home. If this trend continues, hospitals will soon be equipped with drive-thrus. You'll drive up and see a menu with different operations (tonsillectomy, hip replacement, etc. ) posted on it. You'll proceed to a speaker where a disembodied voice will ask, "How may I help you?" You'll reply , "I would like to have my gall bladder removed." "Okay," replies the voice. "Pull up to the second window."

The team captain and I think that State is a perfectly brilliant name for our recreational soccer team. No one else seems to think so. They don't like Holy Diver, either. We might have to settle for The Sisters Christian.

OK, 1971.

You shoulda said "DW", that would have at least put you near the right decade.

Lunch at the Y
you sure do seem to have a lot of time on your hands to be on this forum? Do you have a job? Are you a shut-in?

Wanting to do things and actually doing them aren't quite the same.

Big Phan Paul Projects that have been on the drawing board for awhile:

1. Storm door on front door. Reasons for delay: 1. Needs to build up the current door frame so the storm door will fit. 2. Storm door on back door didn't really work out very well, thus destroying confidence

2. New roof for shed. Reasons for delay: 1. Need guarantee of decent weather for entire weekend, but it can't be too hot. 2. Not sure plywood will fit in Malibu. 3. Creepy things in shed.

3. New kitchen floor. Reasons for delay: 1. Expensive project. 2. Disagree about state of current floor/priority of project

4. Add wall to divide room to improve "flow" of house and make more efficient use of space. Reason for delay: 1. Project may be beyond abilities of Phan Paul, because it includes: a. doing things to a possible load bearing wall (though it is a one story house, so probably not.) b. Involves messing with ceiling fan and duct work. c. Dry wall is apparent difficult. 2. Once project is started, there is no going back, since one room is our bedroom. 3. Will involve assistance from either redneck neighbor (who really is a nice guy) or a guy I don't like all that much.

I did add a bunch of perennials to the garden this year, and things are looking pretty decent in the yard.

On the rare occasions I do put time and money into improving my surroundings, it usually backfires.

When I moved into my new apartment, it was pretty apparent we needed a new showerhead. The old one was missing its middle piece, producing one awkward powerful stream. Now I switch the showerhead, which took much effort, and I get a weak little piddle. WTF AGGRAVATION.

Um, changing a showerhead really isn't all that much more difficult than changing a lightbulb.

No one wants to know what someone from Arkansas thinks about indoor plumbing.
