internets is still funny to me.

The origin of this is the 2004 Presidential Debate when Bush referenced looking at "the Internets," correct?

I actually looked this up just last night. "Internets"

Bush referred to publicly funded computer terminals connected to the Internet as "Internets" in the third Gore-Bush presidential debate on October 17, 2000:[1]

JOYCE CLEAMER, AUDIENCE MEMBER: ...I'm very concerned about the morality of our country now. TV, movies, the music that our children are, you know, barraged with every day. And I want to know if there's anything that can be worked out with the—Hollywood, or whoever, to help get rid of some of this bad language and whatever, you know...
BUSH: ...We can have filters on Internets where public money is spent. There ought to be filters in public libraries and filters in public schools so if kids get on the Internet, there is not going to be pornography or violence coming in.
In the 2004 election's second debate in St. Louis, Missouri, Bush used the word "Internets" in response to an audience question about a potential military draft:[2]

DANIEL FARLEY, AUDIENCE MEMBER: Mr. President, since we continue to police the world, how do you intend to maintain our military presence without reinstituting a draft?
BUSH: Yes, that's a great question. Thanks. I hear there's rumors on the, uh, Internets, that we're going to have a draft. We're not going to have a draft, period. The all-volunteer army works. It works particularly when we pay our troops well. It works when we make sure they've got housing, like we have done in the last military budgets.

I knew the superfluous S would lead to more political threads. Don't say I didn't warn you.

I didn't realize he did it twice. I remember reacting to the second quote. It is certainly evidence against a mere slip of the tongue.

He also gave us "the google" which I still enjoy.

I admire you all and your commutes...I've never had to commute more than 15-20 minutes, and I leave a bit early (and arrive early) to avoid the 'minimal' rush hour in SB (though the worst traffic tends to run in the opposite direction i go)...I don't think I could ever take a job with a more than 45 minute commute...it's definitely a factor when i was looking for other work

I went from a 5 minute commute when I lived in PA to a 45 minute to 1 hour commute here in NC. Yesterday we had a dusting of snow and my commute was just short of 2 hours. Needless to say I've been looking for houses closer to work!
Another day, another box of stolen pens.

5 minutes if I drive, 10 if I bike. No traffic lights. I often go home for lunch.

25. They keep installing more of those newfangled things, dagnabit.

True story: Until recently, there was only one light between here and the Texarkana Airport--about an hour away. Now there's three.

Easily manipulated facts:

Between my house and Philadelphia International airport there are 3 lights 1.5 hour ride

Between my house and Lehigh Valley International Airport there are 4 lights 30 min. or so ride

Between my house and Newar Airport there are 2 lights. a little over an hour ride.
