There was a perception that Werth wasn't doing enough to carry the team with Utley and Howard out in the summer of 2010.
He posted a 144 OPS+ for the year.
The final approach is simple. Knapp said he no longer swings at a pitch that it is not meant to be hit.
"For example, there's certain pitches that a pitcher wants you to swing at that you can't really do much with," Knapp said. "I've learned to lay off of those and wait for a pitch that I could drive, whether it's something up in the zone or a fastball. I think I've been a little more selective, and that's helped a lot."

It's hard to believe that a team with the talent that Washington has isn't running away with things. They should blow up that roster. Sometimes the whole isn't worth the sum of the parts. There are way too many egos there that aren't meshing into being a team. Adding Papelbon was probably the finishing touch.
