Remember, Jerry Rice played for three teams in his career but will always be a 49er. Yogi Berra played 4 games for the Mets for some reason. It happens all the time.

The "Here comes Iguchi" game is on TCN right now. Man I miss Harry.

I forgot how blatant Marlon Anderson's interference was from the game before this.

Anyone else remember when Howard was a .271 hitter? Man, good times.

This lineup was ridiculous

Was at that game. Went from "oh fuck" to calling out every mets dbag within shouting distance.

The Mets sent 10 to the plate in the 8th and Harry said they batted around +1. Hopefully that settles the debate from a few months ago.

I brought up Harry using 9 as a bat around in that thread/debate

yeah, i don't know if you're talking about that core in general or that specific year -- but the 2007 regular season team has a special place in my heart.

they were so maddening b/c of the bullpen; i remember. i'd be watching a game where they were up 5; then come back and they'd be down 7, then would somehow pull off a crazy ass comeback. then all of a sudden romero, gordon and myers were lights out late in the year.

as awesome and special as the '08 run was, i remember the day they finally broke through and made the playoffs on the last day of the season -- especially harry's call as myers threw his glove up a freaking mile in the air. it was awesome stuff.

zolecki -- 08/22/07 http://articles.philly.com/2007-08-22/sports/25230099_1_jimmy-rollins-kyle-kendrick-aaron-rowand

"We've been playing after trying to do something special for two years in a row," Jimmy Rollins said. "I think we expect to go out there and win. The guys that come up - they expect to have to perform because we're trying to perform. It's not just to get to the major leagues. We have bigger goals in mind."

But don't the Phillies feel a little like MacGyver, trying to piece together a team missing countless key parts?

"Duct tape and Motrin," Rollins said.

i've always wanted to write a book on that team and that season and call it "duct tape and motrin"

Man..........Jayson Werth was so f'n good for us.

I know he got a monster contract, but he was a huge, huge loss to the lineup.
