Lecavalier has three years left on his $22.5 million contract with a $4.5 million cap hit. The Flyers have tried repeatedly to trade him without success.

On Thursday, NJ.com quoted his agent, Kent Hughes, as saying the most promising trade last summer would have been to Nashville, but Predators ownership (not general manager David Poile) balked at a deal that was actually agreed upon, because they were still angry over the Flyers’ RFA offer sheet to Shea Weber (14 years, $110 million) in the summer of 2012.
