Exactly what I was thinking. And they really do not appear to be anywhere close to turning the corner either. They actually seem to be worse each season.

The Oilers are a complete laughingstock.

If MacDavid had some stones, he should just go to college for a year and re-enter the draft next season.

He'll be ruined by the decaying corpses of the 1980s Oilers that run the show up north. Very similar to our own franchise except they still have the ability to develop talent.

Yeah, I know, but it would put more pressure on the Oilers to deal him.

I'd tell my agent that I wasn't playing for Edmonton, and that's that. Let the team figure out what to do.

The Lindros precedent.

How close were the #Flyers to winning the lottery? 4 of their 65 combinations had 3 of the 4 drawn numbers (1, 5, 6, 14) #FlyersTalk

sigh

No worries, BigEd. The league never would have allowed that to happen anyway.

Just want to go on record saying I think John Stevens is the perfect hire for the head coaching vacancy.

I think he was a good coach here his first go around, and will be much better now after spending time with Sutter in LA.

i know what you're getting at w/r/t cups and recent success, but C'MON, since the 48 game lockout-shortened season the flyers have 40+ wins 15 of 19 seasons (advanced to conference finals 5 times (6 if count lockout season), cup twice). they don't "always lose". they're often in contention.

it's a retread move. it's more of the same. and you can expect more of the same. Yes the Flyers can contend any given year, but it's pretty important to look at the fact that they haven't made the playoffs in 2 of the past 3 seasons. Sports is short term memory; what have you done lately.

babcocks first choice is detroit and if that falls apart, then the dominoes will fall. but tbh, i just don't see philly as a fit or that attractive for him. I think Mclellan makes more sense

If Babcock was going to stay in Detroit, don't you think that he would have signed an extension by now? The probable question is whether the Wings bring in Blashill to take Babcock's place or go out and hire McLellan? Then would TM take the job? He ma not want to go back to Detroit. If McLellan and Hextall show that they can work together, Snider will find the money to make it happen.

What has McClelland ever done other than consistently put teams on the ice that lose to inferior teams in the playoffs? And now he's coming off a 3-0 series lead collapse and a non-playoff season.

The biggest issue with Stevens is the Kings probably won't let him go.........he's been groomed as the heir apparent there.

I'm pretty much fine with anyone out there besides Babcock. There are certainly enough good coaches available.
