Yeah I like the prospects, sucks that Ghost had a wasted season this year. Hextall is going to have to work magic though because most of our defense is locked in with some dead weight with big contracts.

Plus we have two firsts this year and we basically never miss on firsts. Hextall said he could have unloaded more contracts but didn't because we were sorta in it. Not too concerned about his cap maneuvering

like what hextall did at the deadline, but if he could've unloaded more contracts and didn't, then shame on him. with that said, if we can kill these 1st round picks, get rid of some of our dead money, and open up some space for next season, then i think it could be a relatively quick "rebuild."

Hopefully they just buy out Vinny, think they can spread his cap hit over 5 or 6 seasons if they do that.

I understand Hextall not blowing it up, but hopefully some of these offers are around on draft day. Probably stuck with Vinny and RJ unless we do a buy out as mentioned

i know we had some blue-chip blueline prospects coming into the season, but how does it look 8 months later? how many, if any, will be playing with the big boys next year?

Well you already have Schultz, Schenn, MacDonald, Streit, Grossmann, and I hope they bring back MDZ. You also have Gudas in the mix.

Hopefully MacDonald and Schenn can go bye-bye. Grossmann will have value since he'll be on the final year of his deal.
Piss off.

Big Mac has 5 more years at 5 million per year. Schenn is dumpable, MacDonald is probably not.

LSchenn will be an RFA after next season. He's a $3.6M per. I doubt if the Flyers will pick that up. That makes him a trade candidate for this summer. Grossmann will be a UFA after next season. He's at $3.5 for next season. Unless he will accept a cut in pay on an extension, he'll probably be gone this summer as well.
When a player's performance drops off dramatically in a short period of time, there usually is physical reason. Like with Read this year. Now its out that his ankle was/is a mess and probably needs work. The same for AMac. He missed a month earlier in the season. I'd venture that he's going to see the surgeon this summer. He'll probably be back to a serviceable form next season.
Next year with a new coach and system on the backend, a lot could look different and better next year.
BTW, Manning looks like an NHLer in the time that he has been up here. That's good to know for next year.

That's why some of the Dmen need to go. Not only should there be a new coach (and thus new system) next year, but there's way too much money being tied up in the backline. You need guys somewhere that are under cheap contracts. Also need room for Ghost, Morin (and in the future Sanheim and Hagg hopefully). That's why, like you said, Manning would be ideal for next year. Voracek will be in the last year of his deal, and will obviously be getting a huge payraise, so money needs to be cut somewhere else. Start w/ Read and the Dmen.
Piss off.

Schenn is probably gone at the draft for peanuts.
Grossmann isn't that hard to trade.
Stuck with Mac.
Could trade Streit probably but could get more at deadline.
MDZ is an RFA, right?
Schultz obviously is here.

Morin has a spot if he wins it in camp

Dunno about that. Everybody was glowing about Morin this past camp and Ghost basically had a wasted year. I was adament we would see Ghost around the ASB if he didn't get hurt, thats what I will expect next year

Well they can't. It's completely in the psyche of the Penguins starting with their Queen Bee.

Rangers are the new pain in the ass and probably will be for the next year or two
