Ol friend Grady sizemore hitting .409/.409/ .636 for TB.

In 22 PA he has more hr, more sb, one less run scored, two less xbh and two less rbi than he did in 104 PA for Philly.

Around the 7th inning in Game 3, Buehrle approached White Sox pitching coach Don Cooper with a styrofoam cup in his hand.

“I look in it, there’s a beer in there,” Cooper told CSN’s David Kaplan on SportsTalk Live Monday. “It wasn’t uncommon for guys on the 2005 staff — the starters when they weren’t pitching — to enjoy a cocktail from time to time.”

With the game tied, Buehrle then proceeded to ask Cooper if the White Sox needed him to pitch at all. The White Sox pitching coach turned to Buehrle and jokingly said, “Heck no, we’re trying to win this game. We don’t want you in it.”

Cooper then hedged his bet by saying that the only way Buehrle would enter the game is if the White Sox went in to 13 or 14 innings.

Sure enough, it did. And in the 14th inning, Buehrle was the only pitcher left for the White Sox.

The result? Buehrle came in relief and recorded the final out of the game, picking up the save as the White Sox took a 3-0 series lead.

General manager Dave Stewart defended the trade by downplaying Toussaint's reported velocity of 96 mph, saying that the prospect had an inflated perception.

"To this point, he has pitched OK, he has pitched well," Stewart told Fox Sports. "But guys are mentioning that he throws 96 mph. He hasn't thrown 96 mph since he's been here. We haven't seen 96 once."

But what about 98 mph?

According to Fox Sports' Ken Rosenthal, that 96 mph plateau was selling Toussaint short. Rosenthal reported Monday that Toussaint's fastball reached 98 mph in his Saturday start with the Class-A Rome Braves.

Being aggressive at the plate instead of standing around hoping for a walk or drive up a pitch count is sometimes a good strategy.

Teams lie, sometimes for good reasons, sometimes for bad. They do it to get an advantage while they look at the trade market or just because they can

i dont see anyone saying people are hoping for a walk. they're simply not swinging at bad pitches or pitches designed to turn into groundballs

A different way to put it: this is the first year in baseball history that swinging at the first pitch during an at bat is equally as successful as not swinging at the first pitch of an at bat.
