it's just as bad that he did it as a manger too, but this is really bad as well. i dont get the recent push to get him reinstated.

Not to get preachy but do we know whether he was the murderer or the victim? A lot of "we'll miss you Daryl" comments going up on twitter which struck me as good before we know what side of this he was.

On June 21, 2015, Hamilton and girlfriend Monica Jordan were found dead in a Pearland, Texas residence, in what appeared to be a murder-suicide. Investigators said it appeared Hamilton had been shot more than once and Jordan died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound. Hamilton and Jordan's 14 month-old child was found alive by police in the home. It was ruled a murder-suicide

Police said officers were sent to the home on an emergency call about a disturbance. When they arrived, they found the body of Hamilton near the front entry way. The body of Jordan was found in another part of the home.

Hamilton was shot multiple times apparently.

Because after years and years of lying about it, he finally came clean. Sort of. I guess.

I wasn't alive when he played or else I might have a different view; but fuck Pete Rose. Always and forever.

I was alive then. I pretty much agree with you though.

I'll admit - I was on board with his reinstatement until this new information. I felt like - at least he didn't cheat by doing PEDs and his gambling had nothing to do with his hit record. But this is pretty bad.

He was/is a nasty piece of work. Still my only enduring memory of him is going to a game with my Dad in the mic-80's after he returned to the Reds. he was the only guy at batting practice who looked like he had a purpose: He'd come up there and line two to left, line two to right, line two to center, etc. Can see how he'd be viewed as a guy who played the game the right way even though he was so very, very wrong.

I'm sort of surprised that with all those shady guys from Gold's Gym he hung out with that more drug allegations haven't come out along with the obvious gambling ties.

On Aug 24, 2013, Wade Davis made his 24th and final start of the season and got bombed. He was put in the bullpen and first pitched on Sept 4th.

From that date until now (including the playoffs) he's given up 11 total runs in 127 and 1/3 innings.

Everyone's entitled to their opinion. My father-in-law (who barely qualifies as a baseball fan) cites the PED thing as a reason for his reinstatement frequently. It's my POV that he willingly broke the cardinal rule of baseball, and farted in the general direction of the consequences that, at the time, had been set forth 60+ years ago and was plastered in every clubhouse, etc., ever since. This is as opposed to PEDs in the 90's and early 00's where it was all a gray area that had yet to be regulated.

Again, I grew up with the idea that Pete Rose was an unspeakable reprobate and have never known any differently; but also have yet to see any evidence to the contrary.

According to a new book about the Dodgers, back in 2013 Greinke confronted his teammates in the locker room and demanded that all of them wash their hands after taking a shit

"I’ve got something to say,” he said. The room was quiet.

Some of you guys have been doing the number two and not washing your hands. It’s not good. I noticed it even happening earlier today. So if you guys could just be better about it, that would be great.

Greinke sat down. The team wasn’t sure if he was serious. When they realized he was, they laughed. Then they took the field, far looser than they had been, and went out and beat the Dbacks. Two days later they clinched the division and jumped in the Dbacks pool.
