For those that missed this, Pedro Strop came into a 2-1 game, gave up the tying HR, HBP, F8 and a walk, then was relieved by Motte. Walking off the mound, he points to the sky, and Costas says "Motte is on his way in, Strop is on his way out, pointing toward the heavens. We can only ask, or wonder that he is asking, some departed relative for forgiveness for this atrocious performance."

I was half asleep on the couch last night when I heard Costas say this live - holy shit Bob. I wonder if he drinks on air now.

Dallas Braden just made his list of top players he would want to start a franchise with and had Altuve third. Wut

This year's HR derby will have a new format:

-- 8 batters, single-elimination bracket style, ranked by total HRs as of July 7, with any ties broken by total HRs after July 7
-- Each batter gets 5 minutes to hit as many HRs as possible
-- Any HR in the final minute stops the clock until they have a non-HR swing
-- Earn an additional 30 seconds for any HR over 475 ft
-- Earn an additional 60 seconds for two HRs over 420 ft
-- 90-second swing-off to break any ties, and if still tied, 3 swings each
-- In each round, once the second batter passes his opponent, the match ends
-- Each batter gets a 45-second timeout each round

It would of been great if they just left out the additional time for distance bullshit.

They should just use a pitching machine and that would solve almost every problem they're trying to correct with those rules. No one gives a crap about the story of why they chose their favorite bullpen coach or their high school gym teacher to pitch. And what if someone pulls a muscle because they're rushing to hit a HR. Those rules don't seem good.

no opinion about the rules, but I really like the aspect of bringing your pitcher of choice to the AS game

Take it to the NOPE thread

you'd think someone would be smart enough in one of these instances to say "that looks like a dick, can't go with that" yet you see it all the time.
