Dang. Didn't have a good feeling where he was drafted but thought there might be a chance. At least we know.

at first glance i like this pick. 3b with a good arm (has also been a pitcher). on-base machine. in 2014 had 176 abs, 26 walks, 15 hbp, 23 k´s, 55 hits, 8 doubles, 5 homers. ba 313, slg 433, obp 436. looks like there´s a good reason he´s been drafted every year. doesn´t seem like a bad phils 3b option if franco and asche don´t work out there.

can´t find any scouting reports on him since he graduated from highschool, though. anyone else find anything?

bio

6'7" 190, Tennessee Tech commit

BA on McWilliams:
"McWilliams is one of the prime pop-up arms in the country and has been something of an enigma this spring because his stuff can differ significantly start to start. He worked at 83-86 mph last fall, touching 88. At his best this spring, he sits in the low 90s while touching 94 mph. Other days he can sit 84-86 and even drop as low as 83."

BA on Tyler Glasnow (top 50 MLB prospect for Pirates) for 2011 Draft:
"Glasnow is still growing into his huge body, but he reportedly ran his fastball into the low 90s this spring, though scouts say his fastball ranged from 83-89 mph more often, sitting in the mid-80s."

Both 6'7" between 190-195lbs. One can dream.

hey, i was being sorta serious here. Maybe it's just the way the US baseball market is, but is there a sortable list of the entire draft which includes a player's race? I am amazed by the lily-whiteness of our new stable.

Sova says he's joining Williamsport after a few days in Clearwater

Hoskins says he's "off to Philly!", so he has no idea where he's going

Joel Fisher says he's flying to Clearwater tomorrow

I think you should take heed of the Lilly whiteness of baseball in general. It's a major issue across the US. Black athletes in general do not even bother to play high school baseball. They choose to focus on football and basketball as a whole.

When I was still coaching HS baseball, we had to recruit kids to play for us because they would t otherwise sign up to play.

yeah, that's why i was wondering if there was a list so I could assess the entire draft population. baseball is definitely falling out of favor with the inner city kids, though. and that demographic skews greatly non-white.

It will be interseting to see if they just gave him full slot value (I suspect they did).
