I played 3B in Little League because Mike Schmidt was my favorite player. My defense was OK but I was a righty Adam Dunn at the plate. Swinging Ks and mashin taters and pretty much nothing else

Stairs said on one of the broadcasts recently that he was signed as an international free agent as a SS/pitcher and never played a single game at either position in pro ball.

First, thank you big ed for all the posts, links and updates throughout this thread.

Seriously, how did we do? I'm kind of under the impression that other than Nola, kind of a meh draft. It just comes across as they just wanted to shore up organizational depth so they won't have teams performing as horribly in A ball.

It's only a meh draft if your a fan of toolsy players with upside. Otherwise it was a very good draft that each pick, at least in the top 10 was spot on value wise. I personally really like the top 4 a lot.

Callis tweeted tonight that Hoskins (5th) signed for slot, Leibrandt (6th) signed for slot, and Marrero (7th) signed for about 21k under slot. So right now we have about 178k extra to play with. But we don't know if Imhof and Brown signed at, below or above slot. Would really like to get Austin Davis signed. He was the best guy we drafted after the 8th round.

So we went overslot to sign a guy who profiles as a fourth out fielder? I don't follow the draft/minors that closely, but that doesn't seem ideal.

They gave him 750k (or 67500 over slot). Pool amount down to 111K and change. I presume they may have used all of that to get Stankiewicz and Austin Davis signed which is fine. But I don't see us signing any HS guys at all now.
